Marsya....Marsya...

I shook my head so many times, not knowing what to say or how else to react.

Marsya,my 5 year old, who will be in P1 next year, has just started reaading on her own. Her deep interest in writing and drawing has been the greatest push for her to learn how to read. (Apart from the drilling, threats, nags and Tarzan screams from you know who la ah....)

Bobo and I are very proud of our firstborn. A very determined girl who will only accept something that is logical (to her!)

Anyway, this morning,Bobo and I were dumbfounded. I quickly snapped a pic of it and when Marsya found out she blushed and made me promise not to tweet or put it on Facebook for others to see.

Well baby, you forgot mummy blogs about you and your siblings is it? Nyehehehehe.... :p

Tell me,how should I react? Let me repeat again that she is ONLY 5 years 3 mths old. Not even 6. Not even halfway to 6.

*shakes my head* ( Eh,suddenly thought of WasNotWas Shake Your Head. Hee!)

Ok peeps, get ready to shake your head and together say....

Marsya....Marsya......

Why I often smile to myself #1

Yesterday, while driving to the hospital to visit nenek. Marsya sat in the front passenger seat.

Marsya: Mummy, my friend, she wears PE attire with tudung. (Rolling her eyes) Obit kan?!

Mummy: (Shocked to hear it but not surprised that Marsya said it.) And you called her obit for?!

Marsya: Ya lah, PE attire kan t-shirt je. Short sleeved. Then she wear tudung. So Kakak said "Awak obit lah."

Mummy: NO! You cannot be too honest like that! What if she feels hurt?

Marsya: No lah. Dia yang hurt kakak. She beat me after that.

Mummy: Did you cry?

Marsya: No. I laughed.

Mummy: Please do not call others obit anymore ok?

Marsya: Then you call me obit, can?

Mummy: (Pretended not to hear because really, my dear daughter can be real obit at times. Sigh...)

Marsya: And then right. (OMG my daughter is only 5 leh. NOT 15!!)

Mummy: Ahuh. (Step interested)

Marsya: She wear her tudung then the tali is here (pointing to the top of her head). So painful what!

Mummy: Maybe it's not painful to her?

Marsya: Oh. But so obit.

Mummy: (Oh God. Please keep me sane. This is ONLY the beginning.)

Before there were four Part 1

When it was just me, Marsya and Ryan, we would have our morning shower together.
While I make my Milo and breakfast, they woud have their milk and biscuits.
We would then cuddle up on the cosy sofa, turn on Playhouse Disney and sing to our favourite tunes.
Life after I resigned and cared for the two kids on my own was more than I could ever ask for. I love every minute spent with them.

Going to Toa Payoh central with them was a breeze. I could even travel on the MRT from Toa Payoh to Tampines (where mom and dad used to stay) with them alone. There were many times I would drive to the other end of the island with them too. I was NEVER scared or apprehensive about going out with my 3 and 2 year olds alone.

Then we had a helper. I had a tough time adjusting. Being pregnant with Elisya, my hormones did their part in giving me sick notions. I had no choice but to allow the helper to take over some of my duties including showering the kids. Initially I cried. I know that physical touch is important and it enhances the bond you have with your children. But after a few incidents of falling in the toilet, Bobo told me to stop showering them. Big belly and clumsy me do not make a good pair.

With a helper around, I focused whatever energy I had on Marsya and Ryan. I felt relieved because in fact, I had more time with them. Snuggling before naps, lunch together without having to care about the dirty dishes, played Play-Doh with them and not worry about the mess too, baked cupcakes with them and even brought them to the playground while the helper cleans up the mess in the house and the list goes on.

I miss Marsya and Ryan as babies and tots.

They are more independent now that they are in K1 and K2 respectively. They have their own perspectives and are never afraid of saying how they feel. I should be thankful.

Enjoy these pics while I go cry my eyes out...

WowArt!

Before I start on the main entry, let me just apologise first for the delay of this entry.
I don't think there should be any excuses but I hope, my four kids are good excuses for me altogether. Hehe.

We were invited by Nura to WowArt Learning Studio for a preview of an upcoming Christmas Programme.
Being an Art student in Secondary School, I was always more than excited when it comes to art & craft for my children. That was why, when Nura invited, I jumped at the offer. :D (Typical parent. Cannot resist such offers.Hee.)

Upon entering the studio, the professional and obviously dedicated trainers were so pro-active in warming up the kids and settling them down. I had brought the baby and the toddler along too therefore I had to 'park' the two strollers somewhere and the staff of WowArt had been very accomodating.

While I left the baby (who was in one of her best moods, thank God!) outside with my new helper, I couldn't help but notice how warmed up Marsya and Ryan already were with their surroundings and the trainers, who roped Elisya in the warming up activity, knowing that she falls half a year from the minimum age encouraged to participate.

Once the kids were settled, we mommies settled in the room next door and got ourselves ready for our activity. Boy, we took a reaaaaaaaaally long time to settle down. Shame on us! :p

Let me just slap myself here that, if not for that valuable lesson at WowArt, I would have forgotten the difference between Crayons and Oil Pastel. Let's just hope, Mrs Loo, my Art teacher will not be reading this. Heh.

So we were first told to draw any of the six items that our trainer, Gaz had written on the board for us. By the way, Gaz is a really talented artist who was really patient with us, mommies!! Out of the six items were these: House, Tree, Butterfly, Flower,Sky and Grass- the common items that we had drawn.

Guess whose?
Yes, yes, these are ours. The mommies. Age range? 28-33 :p
(Mrs Loo, please don't get angry. I have not been in touch with the artistic me for years! Hahaha. Like real. :p)

So anyway, Gaz said that the reason our pictures were so similar was because we had been programmed to draw those simple objects for the past 25 years, minimum! Sad, isn't it?

Therefore, trainers in WowArt will help our children to be creative and hopefully, stop all children from drawing houses that are square with a hanging door and only two windows. And a tree that consists of two arcs and bushy green patch that is assumed as the leaves. And a butterfly that ....oh well, you get it. Cos you draw them like that too, right? Hehe. Peace.

So right when we were embarassed by our own drawings, we had to use Oil Pastels to start on our project. Another slap-across-the-face-for-being-a-typical-mom session, for me, at least.

ALWAYS ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN TO BREAK THOSE OIL PASTELS, Y'ALL!

Why? Because when they're all broken, the children are able to get more texture in their drawing/colouring.
I had to remind myself time and again to stop scolding the kids from breaking them up. So sayaaaang!!!!
I could see my money fly if my kids were to do that in front of me. But, art is art ok. Art is supposed to be messy and has no rule. So, break them all up and make sure you draw nice lines and textures ok kids?

Oil Pastels, before they're broken into pieces.

The different textures and lines you can get from a broken piece of oil pastel.

As we started with our project, we chatted non-stop and had to be reminded gently, many times that the kids were more well-behaved and on time than us. What can I say? This is one of the many ways for us to release some stress. :p

The compressed styrofoam boards we had to use for our project.

As usual, 'kena' tease cos I tease others a lot too. :p

Having fun as we learn! That's the way! :D (Another entry on this soon!)

Mommies and kids with our masterpieces and Teacher Gaz. :D

In all, I'm glad my children had such a good experience at WowArt. I'm sure the trainers there have aroused their interest for Art  because since that day, all they have been doing at home besides playing is drawing and colouring!!! :D

Thank you, WowArt for the wonderful opportunity!
Thank you, Nura for the invitation and having us in your mind!
Thank you, Vivi for the beautiful pictures!
Thank you, Yati, Diana,Vivi and Nura for the great company!

Thank you, Marsya, Ryan, Elisya and Keisya for again, showing me that life can be as simple and beautiful as Art. :)

Battle Field

In about three hours time, I will  be under the knife again.

Guilt comes over me as I type this entry. I have not been the best pregnant mother for I have not been updating regularly about baby's development. I have not been the best mother as I had been too weak to follow the schedules I had planned out for the three children this holidays. What with the maid creating more problems that left me helper-less for three weeks. Plans with the children had to be shelved because of that as I had chores to do at home.

No matter how much I pen this down, let it out, scream and shout, I still feel guilty.

This was not the way I wanted to spend my last few weeks with my children who deserve more than my atention before baby comes along.

Still, I am looking forward to later. To see my unborn child. The one whose kicks have left me feeling breathless at times. :) The one whom hubby still thinks is a boy despite the doctor telling us so that it's another girl.

Whatever gender you may be, baby, you're still ours and will be loved all the same. :)

And yes, I'll be going through another c-section.

Fourth child. Third c-section. Last pregnancy.

LAST pregnancy. Yes, ligation forms have been filled and I've made up my mind.

But to walk into the Operating Theatre later, I'm still NOT prepared. The battle has already begun last night when all sorts of notions came over me about the operation. Scheduled operation always make me feel like I'm meeting death.

On a good note, if I die giving birth, I will go to Heaven right? Hehe.

Ok, I bet every woman who goes through childbirth ever has such thoughts. It doesn't make me forget where I'm from.

Insya'Allah we'll be fine.

Both of us will be.

Pray for us, ok?

HELLO June Holidays!!!

When I was still teaching, I looked forward to the June holidays. I looked forward to being a homemaker for at least two weeks, waking up to my babies (yes, they were still babies then), cook for them, bathe with them, shop with them, spend the entire day with them.

Now that I'm a SAHM, I still look forward to those. In a different way.

Being pre-schoolers, it is only right that now, I direct all my energy on them during THEIR June holidays. Not to forget my lil chubbs, Elisya, who is full of energy and determined to do what Marsya and Ryan do too.

At 35 weeks pregnant, my whole body is now aching from EVERYTHING.

Sit too long, ache.

Stand too long, ache.

Walk too long, ache.

Never walk, ache.

Lie on my back, ache.

Lie on my sides, ache.

Aiyooooh!!! I seriously can't recall aching so badly when I had the first three and the third only being slightly a year ago! I must be aging too fast. And yes, I'm turning 30 in a week's time.

30. (Wow. Old liao.)

Ok, back to where I was. So this holidays, despite all the aches, I have to make sure my pre-schoolers learn something. Everyday is playtime for them, yeah, MY way. Hee. I sound like a stepmother, don't I?

Well, they say, once a teacher, always a teacher. I guess it's true. I've done up lesson plans and timetables for my kids but thought that it would be too rigid. So, the lesson plan and timetable is for my eyes only so that if I were to stray away from it, I can only blame myself.

So the date for the c-section has been set on the 18th of June. I can't wait for 3rd Princess to be out but at the same time, I am not so eager about the operation. Fourth time giving birth, third time c-section and I'm still freaking out.

Let's just pray I'll have enough mojo to spend time with the three children before I 'pop' or should I say, get cut up? :p

It's Parents and Teachers Conference tomorrow and the Mr has very kindly taken half a day of leave to accompany meet the teachers. I'm not really concerned about the kids' academics right now but more of their behaviour in class, study patterns etc.

Oh well, we'll just have to wait for tomorrow.

Till the sun shines again. :)

A Whole New Affair

Yes, yes, it's been over 2 years or so that I last blogged. Actually, no. Hehe. I was blogging privately immediately after I resigned.

Then came the gatal-ness and here I am, back to wordpress. :p

Life has been pretty fly, I must say. :)

With a new baby, my 3rd child, who has turned ONE since 30 March. That is none other than my precious, Elisya Batrisyia. :)

With a new home, situated in Serangoon North since March 2010. :)

With my parents and younger sister who are now staying with us. :)

And of course, with another baby on the way. :) Alhamdulillah.

I'll have four children come June, Insya'Allah and I have never been more blessed.

But now, it's time for me to take my very short nap. It's only when Elisya is taking hers and the other 2 are in school that I can have my nap. Even if it's just 15 minutes. Hell yeah, I deserve it! Hehe.

For now, welcome me back, with wide open arms, can? :p
